My work with children through Playball has deepened my understanding of how essential health and wellbeing are to a child’s ability to grow, feel safe, and experience joy. Every session reminds me that when kids are nourished and supported, they become more confident, engaged, and resilient. This is what draws me to The Angel Network—because every child, no matter where they live, deserves the dignity of a full stomach and the chance to simply be a child, not just survive. “To nourish a child is to nourish the future.”

Although I have lived in Melbourne for almost 40 years, I left a piece of my heart in Africa. I have a special love and strong connection with the people of Africa. I have one motto – “no personshould be hungry and no person should be out in the cold” – this encourages me to do as much as I am able to assist those needing my help. It has been a heartwarming journey being able to make a difference to so many that are living with so many difficult challenges. It is important to respect, to give back and never forget your heritage. It has been a privilege and an honour to be a part of the distinguished Angel Network family . I wear my t shirt with pride. “You can’t tell a hungry child that you fed him yesterday.”

I left South Africa in 1997, after qualifying as an attorney and working in the field of Public Interest Law. Throughout my time abroad I have remained connected to South Africa and to the people I left behind. My conscience lies with the people of South Africa and I value this opportunity to make a small contribution to the amazing work that the South African Angels are doing. I am privileged to have met, in the Australian Angels, like minded people with a similar history and conscience to me, and together we have established a sustainable charity in Australia to support specific projects in South Africa, with the assistance and hard work of the Angel Network South Africa. “I feel an obligation to give back to the Country of our birth, which nurtured and formed me”
