The Angel Network needs your help

The Angel Network, a non-profit organization was started 7 years ago because of the growing levels of poverty with the aim of giving a hand up as opposed to a handout. Sadly, since Covid19 pandemic the NGO has had to give handouts to prevent millions from hunger.

Residents assist other communities through Community Action Network

Nearly every week for the last 16 months food parcels and nutritious sandwiches have been delivered to the people of Kliptown in Soweto.

This follows a pledge by residents in Melrose North and Birdhaven at the beginning of lockdown in April last year.
Using the suburbs’ WhatsApp groups, a communication network was set up to raise donations and food collections to support the community of Kliptown.

There are still Angels around

After a year of Covid-19, employment challenges, lockdowns, soaring food and fuel prices, The Star Trust is happy to partner with good Samaritans like The Angel Network.

The NPO collects donations for food parcels, back-to-school gear, sanitary wear and clothes to rescue struggling families in Johannesburg.

Through The Angel Network, The Star gave out 1 500 food parcels in August. The NPO’s founder, Glynne Wolman, is asking for donations of R150 which will enable disadvantaged children to receive food, school stationery and even some Christmas toys.

Migrants around Johannesburg say they are struggling to put food on the table with South Africa being on alert level four of the national lockdown. They now have to rely on handouts to survive.

Can you imagine living without all the music and TV for the rest of the year? After the COVID-10 Lockdowns many local talented performers in the performing arts industry are forgoing the basics of food and shelter.

The Angel Network jumps in to help raise money in an initiative to feed these performing artists.

NPO provides meals to Diepsloot community

Sibambisene Foundation, an Alexandra-based non-profit organisation continued their weekly outreach programme of feeding disadvantaged communities in Johannesburg.

“As Sibambisene Foundation, we have been doing a lot of great work for the community of Gauteng for the past four years,” said Linda Mbatha secretary-general of Sibambisene Foundation.

The foundation also extended its gratitude to the Angel Network and the South African Jewish Board of Deputies (SAJBD) for their continued support towards the NPO and for sponsoring the feeding scheme programme.

Angel Villages Pop Up Around SA, Telethon to Raise Millions for Them

A new thing the organisation has done is adopted villages around the country that they are calling Angel Villages. To do this, they launched a fundraising campaign to raise over R2 500 000 on Charidy and to get the funds, had to reach 50% of that prior to their event which they have done successfully.

NPO sends out donations to over 1 000 families affected by recent Alex fire

The Angel Network is a non-profit organisation who aims to help those in need. The organisation put out an appeal on social media urging the public to donate to the affected families and have received a great response from the public. Founder of the Angel Network Glynne Wolman said, “After about two hours this morning (3 July) we had received over 2 500 blankets, hundreds of kilograms of food, thousands of black bags of clothes and linen as well as crockery, cutlery and household items.”

Thousands of blankets, meals and more donated in one hour to Alex fire survivors

The Angel Network started a collection drive, asking people to please drop off donations today, between 10 am and 2 pm. It has been 1 hour since the first donation was dropped off and within the hour, thousands of blankets have been dropped off, bags filled with clothing and groceries.

Six ways COVID-19 is changing South Africa
